Disabling Software
If some course windows do not open correctly or you experience other problems, it may be because of anti-popup or anti-virus software.
What to do?
To be able to access all aspects of our online courses, you generally need to "disable," "exit," "quit," or "shut down" any pop-up stopper, adware prevention, or firewall software that runs on your computer. You may also need to disable any built-in anti-popup features that may be part of anti-virus software you're running.
Many anti-popup applications will flash an icon when a pop-up is blocked. This icon is usually located either in your system tray (bottom right, by the clock) or in the browser window itself. Typically you can right-click or double-click this icon to show the properties and disable the software. (If you wish to remove the software altogether, it may be listed under Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.)
Below are instructions on how to disable some common applications. Once you're done using our online course, you should re-enable this software before browsing other websites.
How to remove the Google toolbar
- Click on the Google logo to the left of the Toolbar search box.
- Choose 'Uninstall' or 'Help' and then 'Uninstall.'
- Add comments about your experience with the toolbar, if you wish, and then press the 'Uninstall the Google Toolbar' button.
To uninstall the Google toolbar using the Windows Control Panel:
- Click on the Windows 'Start' menu in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
- Click on 'Settings,' then 'Control Panel,' then 'Add or Remove Programs.'
- Select 'Google Toolbar for IE' and click the 'Remove' button.
To uninstall the Yahoo toolbar:
Click the down arrow on the pencil icon located
on the the Yahoo toolbar. Choose the "Uninstall" option. When asked if you really want to uninstall the Yahoo toolbar, click "Yes."
You can also remove these toolbars by going to your “start” button, “control panel”, and then add or “remove programs”. Highlight the Google or Yahoo toolbar and then click on “remove”. Close your browser and reopen it to complete the process.
