After becoming licensed, designated mortgage brokers and loan originators must fulfill continuing education requirements each year.
These continuing education requirements must be completed by December 31:

(Note: You may not take the same course two years in a row.) If you have an interim loan originator license, you must complete 20 hours of Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry approved pre-licensing education.
- Designated Mortgage Broker. If you are a designated mortgage broker and received your license before July 31, 2009, you must complete three DFI-approved classes of at least three hours each before December 31. One of these classes must be Ethics. (Note: You may not take the same course two years in a row.) If you are a designated mortgage broker and received your license after July 31, 2009, you must complete 20 hours of Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry approved pre-licensing education.
