Continuing Education Requirements

All active real estate licensees in Washington must fulfill continuing education requirements every two years in order to remain licensed. Here's a brief recap of Washington license renewal and continuing education requirements.

First renewal: To renew your license for the first time, you must have completed at least 60 hours of real estate courses approved by the Department of Licensing, including a 30-hour Real Estate Practices course and a three-hour Core Curriculum course. (Note: the more extensive first renewal requirements set forth in the 2010 license law do not apply to those who obtained their license prior to July 1, 2010.)

Subsequent renewals: For each subsequent renewal, you must have completed at least 30 hours of approved real estate courses, including the three-hour Core Curriculum course.

First renewal after June 30, 2010: If you were licensed before July 1, 2010, in addition to the renewal requirements listed above, you must also complete a 3-hour Transition Course before renewing your license for the first time on or after July 1, 2010. (You need to take this course only once; it is not required for subsequent renewals.)

Money Saving Tuition Packages

We offer five money-saving tuition packages:

First Renewal Package - Sign up for all of the courses required for your first salesperson's license renewal (63 hours, including Real Estate Practices, an elective course, and Core Curriculum) and you'll pay only $299, a savings of $110.
First Renewal Package on or after July 1, 2010 - Sign up for all of the courses required for your first salesperson's license renewal (66 hours, including Real Estate Practices, an elective course, Core Curriculum, and the Transition Course) and you'll pay only $329, a savings of $125.
Standard Renewal Package - Sign up for all of the courses required for your standard salesperson's or broker's license renewal (33 hours, including an elective and Core Curriculum) and you'll pay only $189, a savings of $25.
Standard Renewal Package on or after July 1, 2010 - Sign up for all of the courses required for your standard salesperson's or broker's license renewal (36 hours, including an elective, Core Curriculum, and Transition Course) and you'll pay only $199, a savings of $60.
Broker's Special - Sign up for all of the courses required for broker's license eligibility (120 hours consisting of four 30-hour courses: Real Estate Law, Brokerage Management, Business Management, and an elective), and we'll include the Broker's Cram course for a total of $649! (All these classes are available either in live-lecture or distance education formats.)

Distance Education Courses. Rockwell's distance education courses include online courses and correspondence courses.

Our online courses are loaded with photographs, animation, talking tour guides, and continuous variety to keep you engaged and interested. Even students with no technical experience rave about how simple it is to use our online courses. And they offer the ultimate in convenience: you can take one of Rockwell's online continuing education courses from any Internet-ready computer at any time of day.

Our correspondence courses are even more convenient and easy to use. They consist of a course syllabus, textbook, and online quizzes and final exam. Simply review the textbook, and then go online to take the quizzes and final exam. You'll get your test results instantly!
