You must complete all three before you can be registered in Washington as a real estate appraiser trainee and start your new appraisal career. Click here for the steps to become a Washington real estate appraiser trainee. (These three courses can also be used to satisfy the educational requirements for licensure or certification as an appraiser.)

Save money when you sign up for our Appraisal License Package! You’ll get all three courses for just $699—that’s an $86 discount!

All three core curriculum courses are mandatory for registered appraiser trainees. You must complete them before you can register in Washington as a trainee.

The three courses can also be used to satisfy the educational requirements for licensure or certification as an appraiser. Two of the courses (Appraisal Principles and the USPAP course) are mandatory for licensure or certification, and the third course (Appraisal Procedures) may be used as one of the electives.

Appraisal Principles. This course gives an overview of both the theoretical and practical aspects of the appraisal process, and will provide a solid understanding of all aspects of real estate appraisal, including current appraisal terminology, the three approaches to value, and the valuation process. This course is currently approved to satisfy core educational requirements for applicants seeking state-registered trainee status, licensure, or certification. (30 hours, $295)

Appraisal Procedures. This course takes students through each stage of the valuation process, from defining the problem and gathering data, to reaching a final opinion of value and communicating it to the client. The three approaches to value (sales comparison, cost, and income capitalization) are taught in detail, and students learn how to apply them in case studies and problems. Students also complete key sections of an appraisal report. This course is currently approved to satisfy core educational requirements for applicants seeking state-registered trainee status, licensure, or certification. (30 hours, $295)

Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course focuses on the standards of ethical behavior and competent performance for appraisers. It provides in-depth coverage of USPAP requirements and also addresses upcoming amendments to the USPAP rules. This course is currently approved to satisfy core educational requirements for applicants seeking state-registered trainee status, licensure, or certification. (15 hours, $195)
