Educational Requirements for Washington Real Estate Appraiser Trainees
Your real estate appraisal career starts when you become a trainee. As a supervised appraiser trainee, you may inspect properties and assist in the completion of appraisal reports. However, your reports must be reviewed and signed by a certified appraiser who is willing to be responsible for the report content. You must log 2,000 experience hours as a trainee in order to move forward in the licensing process.
To become a state-registered appraiser trainee in Washington, follow these steps:
1. Take your three Washington appraisal core curriculum courses:
- Appraisal Principles (30 hours)
- Appraisal Procedures (30 hours)
- Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (15 hours)
2.Complete the registration process with the Department of Licensing:
- Complete the registration form
- Pay the required fee
- Submit copies of your appraisal course completion certificates
Approved courses taken to satisfy the requirements for becoming an appraiser trainee also count toward the educational requirements for licensing or certification.
